Ingredients

All of our meat & offal is free-range or wild, sourced from the human food chain and Irish. We add fresh vegetables, organic herbs and milled lentils, before gently cooking at 90°c for 10 mins.

We add some of our ingredients in raw, most importantly the seeds (flax, pumpkin & chia) because it prevents their beneficial fats from becoming unstable (these really help dog’s coats to shine!).

We do our very best to ensure optimum bioavailability in our meals. This is why our cooking method, ingredient quality and two-stage mixing approach is so important.

Every single nutrient in our meals come from whole foods.  We don’t add any synthetic vitamins, because although they show up in our lab tests, they’re not highly-absorbable.

Did you know turnips are an amazing vegetable to support your dogs’ health?

Turnips are incredibly healthy for dogs and help supporting their metabolism, nervous system, and bone health while also stimulating kidney function.

Here are 5 health benefits of this little wonder bulb:

💛 High in Vitamin C
Vitamin C helps to prevent cognitive aging, eliminates free radicals, and boosts the immune system.

💛 High in Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 is responsible for feeding the metabolic system and the good gut bacteria which regenerates glucose to fuel the brain and tissues of your dog.

💛 High in fibre
Fibre is a boost to any dogs’ digestive system as it turns into fatty acids after the fermentation process and helps to prevent bad gut bacteria.

💛 Great source of manganese
Manganese is another fatty acid producer and supports proper bone growth and the cartilages in your dogs’ joints.

💛 Rich in electrolytes (potassium)
Electrolytes are beneficial for the heart, muscles, and nervous system. Potassium is an electrolyte found in turnips which provides great health benefits.

Turnips are a valuable ingredient to all our lightly cooked dog meals - chicken, turkey, lamb, beef and venison.

The turnips used for our dog meals are locally sourced, grated and lightly cooked to ensure ideal digestion. We simply love all the goodness turnips provide to our pooches and hope you do too?

Calcium is not only great for bones!

Thinking about childhood wisdom, we have always been told you need to get your calcium in to grow healthy and strong bones.

...and yes, Calcium is a vital mineral that plays a crucial role in supporting your dog's growth, promoting healthy bones and teeth, but it also facilitating proper muscle development and function, helps to maintain heart health, and supports a well-functioning nervous system.

Dogs, just like us, are unable to produce calcium naturally, so it is essential that they acquire it through their diet.

At Phoenix Bark, we believe that food is at the centre of our health and that’s why we want to make sure your pooches get all they need when enjoying our delicious fresh meals.

We are happy (and proud) to to provide fully bioavailable calcium within our lightly cooked dog meals - ensuring your dog get's the most out of it 💛

Bioavailability refers to the extent and rate at which a substance, such as a drug or nutrient, is absorbed and becomes available for use by the body.

5 health benefits of the mighty Chia Seeds: A nutritional powerhouse for dogs 🌱🐶

Chia seeds, loved since ancient times by the Aztecs, have made their way into our modern pet's diet for a good reason! These little wonders pack a punch when it comes to health benefits. Let's dive into the incredible benefits of chia seeds for our dogs:

1️⃣ More Calcium than Milk: Did you know that chia seeds contain more calcium than milk? This essential mineral promotes strong bones and teeth, supporting your dog's overall skeletal health.
2️⃣ Abundant Omega Fatty Acids: Chia seeds boast a higher omega fatty acid content than salmon! These healthy fats contribute to a shiny coat, a healthy inflammatory response, and support cardiovascular health.
3️⃣ Prebiotics for a Thriving Microbiome: Chia seeds offer prebiotics, which help nourish the beneficial bacteria in your dog's gut. A healthy microbiome plays a vital role in digestion and overall well-being.
4️⃣ Packed with B-Vitamins: These tiny seeds are loaded with B-vitamins, essential for energy production, maintaining a healthy metabolism, and supporting proper neurological function.
5️⃣ Ancient Seed for Vitality: The Aztecs were onto something! They believed in the vitality-boosting properties of chia seeds and would consume a teaspoonful to harness their energy. Give your pup a natural boost with this ancient superfood.
6️⃣ Quercetin for Allergy Relief: Surprisingly, chia seeds actually contain Quercetin, a natural compound that may help reduce allergies and promote a balanced immune response in your four-legged companion.

At Phoenix Bark, we are incorporating chia seeds along with other seeds into our lightly cooked dog meals. All seeds used in our dog meals are raw and freshly milled. By adding seeds raw, after the cooking process, we can enhance the digestion of the seeds and avoid any loss of omega-fatty-acids which provide their anti-inflammatory properties.

Did you know curly Parsley is one of the most underestimated Superfoods?🪴

Whilst Parsley is used as a colourful garnish in many dishes, most of us actually don’t realise the superpowers of the ancient Mediterranean herb which is held sacred in Greece.

Curly Parsley is brilliant for supporting the liver function and has anti-bacterial compounds. Let’s have a look at what other amazing benefits curly Parsley can bring to the table:

Curly Parsley…
🪴… is packed with Vitamin C, B Vitamins, Vitamin K and Iron
🪴… is a natural prebiotic
🪴… has anti-microbial properties
🪴…has anti-inflammatory properties
🪴… cleanses the body
🪴… strengthens kidney function
🪴… supports digestion
🪴… is rich in anti-oxidants
🪴… freshens the breath
🪴… is a calming herb

Not only is curly Parsley healthy for us humans, it is a pawsome nutritional source for our dogs and the reason why we, at Phoenix Bark, include fresh curly Parsley in our beef recipe.

Curly Parsley is mild in taste and suitable for dogs of all ages. For those who wish to add Parsley to their doggos meals, it is important to only feed curly parsley. A simple spring added daily is enough for maintenance. To target specific problems doses up to 1 teaspoon per 9-10kg weight of your dog, snipped fresh from the plant or added as dry herb can be added.

However, Parsley is NOT suitable for pregnant dogs - If your dog is pregnant please reach out to us and we take the Beef meals out of your delivery.

Are you adding curly Parsley already to your dogs diet? Let us know in the comments.
